Denise Linney is a veteran exhibitor who has a lot of love for what she does, as well as the Christmas season.
How many times have you been a vendor with us? If you are a returning vendor, what do you enjoy most about the show?
I believe this may be my 12th year as a PA Christmas & Gift Show vendor. Before I became a vendor, I was a loyal customer for probably the same amount of years, if not more. It was always a destination I made sure I came to every year. I knew one day I would be a part of this Christmas event and have a booth of my own. What do I enjoy about the show is the question and my answer is as follows: First, the promoters do an amazing job from start to finish. The show is decorated for the holidays and the music puts the shoppers in the Christmas mood. I love knowing that the shoppers find things they love in my booth to take home. Whether they purchase them for their own home, or they are purchasing them for a gift . . . it is a great feeling knowing my handmade items are in homes making people smile, as they decorate for the holidays.
Thank you for coming back so many times, and appreciating everything the show has to offer!
What unique products can shoppers find at your booth this year?
I will be offering my “handmade” seasonal and everyday wooden items, as well as my grapevine wreaths and lath stenciled signs. You will find some one-of-a-kind repurposed vintage pieces, candles, decorated trees, and some select gift ideas that I chose to add to my handmade selection. When you walk into my booth, it looks like a country shop that will take you some time to see all that I offer. You will find so many unique items on my shelves, and in some crates nestled under the old wash tubs that hold more of my handmade decorations. Don’t forget to look in the vintage metal pans on the floor that are tucked under the tree that displays the ornaments I have available. There are so many things that are waiting to go home with you. Please stop by and see what my booth has to offer.
This sounds perfect for the person who has everything. How long have you been selling these exclusive handmade gifts?
I have been doing craft shows for about 30 years. I started out doing very small shows when my children were in grade school. Through the years, I have changed my style of work a few times to what it is today. I was blessed to have the help of my three children over the years and they learned how to work with the public. My two girls have gone with me to the shows for years and currently still help me. My son goes with me to pick out and haul the lumber back home, and he cuts out all of my wood for me. I started crafting so I could stay home with my children as they were growing up. I used to do 25 shows a year and currently I only do two big multi-day shows, and I also sell my handmade items to some shops.
It’s great that you’ve enjoyed doing this for such a long time!
What do you enjoy most about Christmas?
My favorite thing about Christmas is the magic and excitement it brings to children. To see their faces on Christmas morning running to see what Santa left them is a memory I cherish from my own children.
It is certainly a magical time for children!
Is there anything else you would like to say to your fellow Christmas lovers out there?
My thoughts about Christmas is this. Each year make new memories with your family and friends. You can make someone’s day by just looking at them and saying “Merry Christmas.” Keep the kindness going all year long.
Those are great words to live by. Thanks, Denise!
